The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was founded in 1997 through a merger of the United Nations Drug Control Program and the Centre for International Crime Prevention. Headquartered in Vienna, UNODC works to combat illicit drugs, organized crime, terrorism, human trafficking, and corruption. It also promotes justice systems reform, drug prevention, and treatment programs, as well as anti-money laundering measures. With its global outreach, the organization provides technical assistance and policy recommendations to governments, while also promoting international cooperation in tackling transnational crime.
